Walt you are more generous than I have been.
I agree $10 is minimum, unless the service absolutly sucks which has only happened once for me in 22 years. I have tipped up to $25/day. However the $30 is not out of line for all the work that gets done.
Having worked a few trips on dive boats myself I can tell you that it is some of the hardest work I have ever done, and that the crew does many jobs that you as a passenger do not even notice if done well. There is a great deal of hard work that goes into making a dive trips run smoothly. Good service deserves good tips. Just compare the tips you would leave in restruants just for the meals you are served.
The more I reflect on it makes me believe that I have not left enough of a tip sometimes. From now on I think I will leave more, especially when it is well deserved.
