On the way to Catalina in the mid 80's, when the seas were glassy, you would see 40-50 shark fins on the surface per hour...
i once saw a congregation of Blue sharks on the backside of Catalina so thick that the boat was litterally bumping into them!
Now i see a fin every few hundred miles during the peak months...
make no mistake, it was the longliners that eliminated THEIR nuisance prey that caused the decline of OUR shark populations!
