A buddy of mine made $21,000.00 the first week of lobster season. Most trappers make around
$100,000.00 gross for 3 1/2 months work.
The first week is the best then it slows down.
I hope the DFG handles the commerical lobster trappers better than they did with the commerical abalone divers. I would hate to loose our State resource to greed.
If I remember right, first the limit for abalone was 7, then 5, then down to 4. They kept lowering our limits but not doing a thing with the people who were taking the MOST.Then the DFG closed the season for 5 years , but they never reopened it. I think that was back around 1980 or 1984. All the while they let the commerical divers take all they could.
