Seeing a dark form moving quickly between myself and my buddy at night was a creepy introduction to night diving.
But hands down it's the people who are the scariest.
Once diving with a veteran and his newbie GF. The waves got bigger. He watched as GF floundered in the surf. I had to doff gear and scramble to help her.
Next a buddy a who completely lost their tank, it was floating above them. They had only their second stage mouthpiece as a grip on their air supply. I take some fault here, and now thoroughly inspect new buddies rigs under the guise of curiosity.
Then the down panic buddy in a current, and the many cork emulation buddies.
Or the mask full of blood buddy. He always got a bloody nose. I got used to it, but it was really freaky.
Maybe a GWS would be a better buddy, but they might have another opinion...
