I went to the areas around Pebble Beach in april a few years ago, and the water was the same color as the caribbean... the color also lasted to about a mile outshore, and the water was crystal clear, freezing, but it looked great. I took photos, but they weren't digital and I don't have a scanner, but if I do get them I am planning to post. That was probably na odd year though.
