Aside from poor vis (6 foot on a good day), it is fascinating diving. Sea life encounters are of the sudden kind. You can see some big fish there and it may be face to face. There used to be a lot of abalone, but I know that now there are otters in the area. The geology there forms rings. In the tidal areas you can see them in the exposed rocks. I used to dive a lot south of there. San Mateo Coast diving is different than most, with the added bonus of it being on the Great White Hiway.
Enjoy, seahunt
