The beauty of the Suuntos is that they do all the work for the diver. Tables are fine, but dive computers work so well, when not pushed to the limits, that it makes sense to train students on dive computers first.
The tables can be used to explain what the computer is doing for you, and as a backup to the computer, and also as preparation for that (unlikely) day when the dive student undertakes decompression training.
Tables have a place in modern diving, however that place is being relegated more and more to the fringes of diving by the dive computers, especially the Suuntos.
