mojo mike had mentioned having never seeing a green sea turtle in ca.
i see them regularly in the tidal area of the san gabriel river between long beach and seal beach. this area is much warmer than the surrounding waters beacuse there are two big steam power plants which dump huge amounts of warm water into the river. i think this has a lot to do with how often i see them (periodicly througout the year). i've thought about getting in the water to look for one but the vis is usually very bad (1-2 ft.). also i'm not sure that it's legal to "harrass" a (endangered) green sea turtle so i just get enjoyment from watching them from the bank. some times i wait for 15 min or so untill i see them surface again! i wish i could hold my breath that long ;)
