A scuba diver died late Saturday after an accident near a popular diving site off Catalina Island.
The diver was taken to a hyperbaric chamber, which can be used to treat decompression sickness. He was pronounced dead around 10 p.m.
The coroner's office had not yet conducted an autopsy, investigator John Kades said. He described the diver only as a man and said he had no further details.
The man was diving off a boat near Long Point on Catalina Island, said Deputy John Holm of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's substation in Avalon.
