I was well aware this was a recreational depth, and depending on workload and regulator performance C02 retention is still quite possible. Given the increased narcosis, more often then not divers don't realize how much trouble they are in until it's too late.. C02 retention is not a concern limited to technical divers, although you are correct in noting that depth does in fact factor into the equation.
