HSV X1 Sighting?

We were driving home this morning from SD and saw a really big ship hauling butt on the ocean in the opposite direction just south of Oceanside. My co-worker said it was the Navy's HSV X1 which is a really big and really fast Naval personnel carrier. Did anyone else see it or know where it is based? I would like to see it up close. Did anyone else see it?
