The squid boats only work at night, so this should only be an issue for those doing night dives. The key is that the captains of the squid and dive boats should be chatting to keep safe distances. As far as shore diving, the squid boats generally don't operate that close to shore. However, if you are preparing to do a night dive and you see some light boats just off shore, you might want to reconsider.
