I checked the PADI dive insurance web page (http://www.diveinsurance.com/dp/DP-index.htm)to see what they advertise. It does look like good insurance coverage. I would assume, as you did, that they would have more 24 hour support than what they have. Thanks for posting your observations, it is a good heads up.
Were the people that you talked to the ones that can preauthorize the medical evacuation? If you had phoned them from somewhere like Cortez Bank I wonder what they would have told you.
