Went out to Catalina on the Pacific Star yesterday. It was a little dark at times but the conditions were pretty nice; vis 30' or so. On my last dive at Black Rock I was swimming through a kelp forest and a large GBS passed in front of me about 20' away. He had to be about 4.5' long. A few moments later I noticed a large octopus on the bottom trying to find a place to hide from me. He made it under a large rock before I could get a close look. It was a pretty smooth ride all the way home.
