When I lived in California, that was the beach we always went to if at all. I remember once we had a soccer practice on the beach, and there was a giant shark fin right where the waves were breaking! It was pretty cool. Swimming was not allowed though already because it was right after another shark attack. One of our family friends died there though, they were surfing and they hit a sand bank with their head...
