Another thought. Larger bugs, being canibalistic will eat the smaller ones, especially recently molted ones. The larger bugs, if allowed to live will have a few more years of breeding while the seven year old barely legal bugs that are taken every day would have bred for up to 20 more years. By taking only smaller bugs you could theorectically reduce the future population. Fortunately, according to Fish & Game, lobsters are one of the few species that are continuing to thrive despite the recreational and commercial take. I would prefer to see someone take a few trophy sized bugs per year than seven smaller ones each time they go bug diving.
