We spend a lot of time enjoying our lesser visited wrecks and typically see one big sheephead on each of the wrecks. We've seen what we believe to be the same fish on trip after trip. Sometimes they disappear. It always makes us wonder when we don't see the old bull and it's sad to see them show up dead in an above water photo.
It seems less sad to see a big calico or sand bass becoming dinner than a big sheephead. It's an unfair bias, but in my mind sheephead fall more towards the smarter dolphin end of the "cool animal" spectrum and calico/sand bass fall closer towards the tasty "cow" end.
