I was on the Pacific Star on Sunday but we turned back toward King Harbor about after only a short time on the water. We were maybe 30 min. out and it took almost an hour to make it back to port.

The swell was big and pushing straight for the frontside of Catalina. Those were probably the big waves you saw on the News. Basically, you can't dive in those conditions. The swell keeps trying to push the boat into the island and getting on and off the boat becomes very difficult. If you did find yourself down there the surge and lack of visibility would probably add up to a pretty snarfy dive.
