From your photo albums I now figured out that I have seen a lot of Metridiums. They are almost at every dock in the Puget Soun and Inside passage in Canada. Sometimes they are about a foot long, and grow in places that are not always submerged and when the tide goes out they hang down with all of their mass at the end.
Out of all the photos (I looked at all of them) THis one was my favorite. Or should I say the one posted above this message.
