I really like that shot, too. I really wish I had taken it with external strobes and high end photo gear so it could have been better. I mostly enjoy it b/c it brings back the memory of what it really looked like when I was down there.
That's a gorgonian who's left side has been covered with 2 different colored corynactis californica. The fuzzy looking stuff on the right side is what it is supposed to look like. The little purple & yellow thing in the lower left is a Spanish Shawl (flabellina Iodinea) nudibranch. We went back to this spot today and saw a lot of similar reef. I got some half-way decent pics of an octopus.
