They talked about this on the allkill web site and not one person even so much as hinted at one of the root causes of this type of cruelty toward animals.
Specifically, the complete and thorough OBJECTIFICATION of the life in the sea by so-called sportsmen. That mentality permiates the culture as well as the industry. Children are taught that fish are on earth for the sole purpose of fun and recreation. Other than the AOP itself, where is a child going to be taught that fish are inhabitants of an incredible wilderness? Kids are taught that the death-struggle of a fish is fun.
Eldorado park recently sponcered a kids fishing contest. Kids were taken to the park for a day of outdoor fun and the whole point was to see which child could kill the biggest fish!
I ask you, where else in this American life do parents take their children on a nature excursion where the entire purpose for being there is to teach them how to kill some of the inhabitants????
Nowhere!
THAT is proof-positive that fish, perhaps more so than any other animal on earth, are objectified from the time we are kids all the way thru adulthood.
