OSX on the Mac Is extremely stable and you can actually use all the UNIX commands. Plus it comes with a thing called iLife that wrangles all your photos and tunes and mail in an integrated way. Garageband will end any evening television habits you might have had. If you like to do underwater video, it comes with a video editor. Then I got an Ipod and it sucked every CD that I own right into the palm of my hand. 5 CD changers seem really quaint when you have 800 in your fist.
