Normally the divers who disappear up here, in the north, are carried by the coastal longshore counter current northwards briefly and out to sea. Then once they end up far out enough, the main Japan-California-Mexico current carries them southward, to the islands and pinnacles off southern California.

He was apparently negatively weighted, and therefore will remain submerged for quite some time, several weeks at least, before he resurfaces.

There was a brief effort up here to organize private groups to go looking for his body, which I heard about. By now, it could be anywhere however, in waters probably too deep to safely search.
