Even back in those diving dark ages you could be fined and/or incarcerated for recovering intact artifacts; shard collecting was okay. Maybe not anymore. Yeah, the rigs back then were super simple, very user friendly, and diving was probably safer then than now, despite all the hi-techie redundant and expensive bells and whistles we have now.
