Drove by Monastery Beach today on my way back from Whaler's Cove. It was flat and calm. Ok, that's the last time that'll happen for the next year or so.... I concur with the rest of the posts here. You don't want to dive here solo. I've dove here off and on since 2000 and there have been lives lost here. Rough entry and exit.

But, if you do dive it, dive the north end of the beach. Watch others enter first. It can be a steep entry. The kelp is fun. On exit, take a minute and watch the sets of waves crashing the shore and try and pick a flatter set. You should crawl out.

Do not dive there alone or on a day when others won't dive there. Dive another spot.
