I think he moved to another one of those "blue" states (WI, MN ?), which, combined with the fact that these places are in the grip of frigid winter climes and landlocked, explains why he's now going to need counseling. Poor, poor man.
And to add insult to injury, I don't believe John ever owned a drysuit :-(
