sorry, what do you mean by "plausible" cause? The constitutional standard is an objective one, i.e., what might a reasonable person under similar circumstances believe? Thus, there is reasonable cause to believe that a commercial boat at Catalina at 2 am during lobster season is bug hunting, even if it ends up containing sarcastic fringehead hunting scientists.

Not sure what "plausible" cause means the way you are using it. Something may be plausible but not reasonable. It is plausible, for example, that the guy driving down the street near an arson fire with a lighter in the glove box started the fire. But not reasonable
