Finally got back in the water today for the first time this year. I hate rain! We went to the drainpipe North of the Dominator wreck to grab a few bugs. I thought I was at San Clemente Island. We had visibility of 25-30 feet and saw around 100 lobsters...all short. Marc got one that was a tweeker. I always throw those back, but since it was the only one caught, Marc kept it.
Our second dove was at the crane off Malaga Cove. There was a huge bait ball moving around near the wreck, so I got under it hoping to see a predator. A five foot Black Sea Bass swam up to me to make sure I had a good dive.
The top five feet of water was a murky green, but opened up nicely below that. 59F with no thermocline.
