Those plastic whistles that come with the B/Cs are the most annoying and useless piece of gear ever invented. They simply do not work.
The Dive Alert LP hose air horn is what divers really need to be equipped with before they go out on boats.
When I see the small plastic whistles on divers' B/Cs, that tells me "this is another novice who now wants to dive off boats as well." And when I see instructors teaching students to always have their little plastic whistle with them, then I want to throw up.
