Liquid Wrench is better for this than WD-40. But

This stuff should be disassembled and soaked at the
end of each dive week/weekend.

I'd suggest coating the screws with Dow-Corning
111 before reassembling. You can get it from
http://www.mcmaster.com
http://www.grainger.com
http://www.scubatools.com

Scubatools sells it in a plastic syringe which is
really handy. Don't worry about the quantity,
a couple of ounces will last the rest of your life.
