It is just another impersonal gimmick. I like it when the DM calls my name and looks for me and doesn't stop until they have made eye contact with a verbal confirmation required from me. When I see that going on I know they are doing their job the the chances of anyone being overlooked are slim to none. I know they know I'm there and I feel confidient that if I wasn't they would figure it out. I like knowing that a responsible human is keeping track of me.
