WHO: California MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF)
WHAT: The BRTF will be visiting two sites for the "field trip" portion of its meeting in Monterey
WHEN: February 22, 2005 from 4 to 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Members of the public are welcome to attend two events with the BRTF. Due to space limitations at the first location, an RSVP is required to Melissa Miller-Henson (Melissa@resources.ca.gov or 916.654.2506 ).

1. Hopkins Marine Station (approximately 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.). The task force will take a 45-minute walking tour of the facility followed by brief presentations from representatives of several Monterey Bay science and research institutions (Hopkins Marine Station, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Partnership for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Coast and Ocean, and UC Santa Cruz Institute of Marine Sciences) and a Q&A session. Space is only available for the first 50 people who RSVP.

2. Monterey Bay Aquarium (6:15 to 8:30 p.m.). Beginning at 6:30 p.m., two programs will be offered in the auditorium. Come explore the Monterey Canyon with Judith Conner and MBARI scientists using deep sea robot submersibles and learn more about important marine habitat mapping efforts with Dr. Rikk Kvitek of CSUMB. Both programs will be followed by a Q&A session. Everyone is then invited to interact with task force members and staff at a no-host reception in the Mammal Gallery of the aquarium.
