I used go to Coz once and sometimes twice a year up until last
year.

If you are just looking for a place to stay and are not into the
resort thing, I reccommend The fabulous Bahia Hotel just off the
land side of the Pro Dive pier, about 3 blocks S of the square.
Some of the rooms actually look across the street and ocean
towards the Yucatan on the other side of the channel. You can
almost wave to your nieces and nephews partying at Cancun ;-).

If you desire something more festive (that means closer to SanMiguel's town square), try the sister hotel to the Bahia, The
Colonial. Both are my favorite places to stay and do not cost an
arm and a leg when you back out the all inclusive factors. Both
have large and comfortable rooms with Mexican TV, AC, and a place
next to the shower area to wash your gear.

I agree with the other person who rated the Baraccuda less
that adequate. It's old and run down, but it is perhaps the
cheapest.

To eat, it's gotta be Karen's Pizza and Albert's Primo
Restaurant. Karens makes GREAT potatoe and lime soup (a mayan
speciality). I heard a rumor that Albert was retiring, but the
restaurant is still open. Also try the Two Palms just on the N
edge of the square on the ocean side. REALLY good mole and
seafood in general.

It's not there anymore, but Jimmy Buffet had a Margarataville
Bar & Grill until 1997. They had the best tequilia dirnks and
appetizers on the island... including conch fritters!

El Emillos had really good priced cuban cigars and a cigar girl
that made you think twice about... errr, things. They were next
to the mercado, adjacent to the ocean on the square.
