Most experienced divers will fine tune their lead. I know when I use to dive for abalone I used 25 lb. with a heavy wetsuit. I had my weight fine tuned perfectly for neutral bouyancy at the surface.

Years later I wear 30 lbs. Yeah we middle aged guys tend to add on fat and lead to compensate. This guy I assume was oriental by his name. You do not see very many overweight or huge oriental guys. I suspect he was 5 to 10 lbs. over weight on his belt. I do not know his experience. I do know it is a sad story and have sympathy for his family for the loss.
