hey dick, I'm pretty sure the two fish were the same species. They both looked like really faded treefish, to me. Definitely not lingcod.

yeah, it was pretty cool to see it. They fought in front of me for a full minute. dominance maybe? the one kept biting the head of the other, then they wouldn't come apart. I was able to actually grab one of them for a moment.
