Your straps were too tight. I'm a photographer, and it's no problem.

You do need to make sure there aren't any sharp edges in the metal.

I've done three consecutive weeks in the tropics with it.
No problem.

Whatever the original poster decides is right, rent one and dive
it for several weekends. Do NOT do a "you can bring it back if you
don't like it" deal. You won't bring it back.
