looking for good catalina boat

after being spoiled by the peace and spectre, I took my 1st boat ride to catalina on an unnamed boat. It took 2 1/2 hours to get there from san pedro, leaving at 7AM, very slow! we went to 3 shallow dive sites, it felt very rushed, short surface intervals, and we had to leave by 3PM. dive times were limited to 1hr. 2 1/2 hours to get back.

question - are all boats to catalina like this? how long does it take most boats to get to catalina from long beach/san pedro? are there any boats known for going to sites other than beginner sites and having decent surface intervals, and not rushing divers to finish their dive? are those the boats that are the most expensive?
