I admit, I realy don't like regs that say divers must use flags in all circumstances. However, if we expect laws requiring boaters to maintain a certain distance from our flag, we can expect to be required to fly the flag. There are streamlined floats with flags that free divers may use. Usually a spearfishing free diver will have a long line with a float on it so when he hits a fish, he can play the line out and release it if neccessary. The float makes it possible to find the line and fish later.
