I don't know if you can still get there, but just off John S Gibson Blvd, North or South of the police station. Years ago, we would take the kids and dig in the side of the freeway for fossils. The best places to find good specimens are the areas with few shells - better chances that they are whole and not broken. Fossil whale bones have been found on the Union Oil refinery site. It's "dry" diving, today.
