I agree. It doesn't even look cool, just cruel. It's too bad they couldn't do the same contest but take photos instead. In the end photos are all they are going to keep anyway- who's going to mount an 1100 pound shark on the wall. There's one at the Biscayne harbor in Miami- they made a plaster model from photos, etc. - that's permanent. Or they could just tag - put an electronic tracker for research on the shark- I'm sure they have a judge on the boats or someone trustworthy to verify photos,etc.
