Thanks for bringing to attention Howard Hall's website. I did not know that it existed. I really miss HH's articles in the old Pacific Diver magazine. He is one of my favorite writers, although he is better known for his photo/video work.

HH's and many other underwater photographers had a supportive impact on the banning of gill nets. A photo is worth a thousand words and makes a more lasting memory. The visual impact of marine life suffering and dying in gill and drift nets. Then written off as incidental kills. Still makes me upset every time I think of one of those photos. There is the power of the pen, the sword, the gun and then the all powerful photo ;-)

It must be a real power boost to one's self esteem. To create a photo that helps save life in the future and has such a postive effect on protecting the enviroment.
