Talc is a fine powder made up of tiny, intert, flat crystals that provide a protective coating to the latex, protecting it from oxidation.

Oxidation is bad for latex due to the breaking of the carbon-carbon double bonds in the elastomer, making it soft and brittle.

Is that clear...or not?
