We have been thinking of only doing beach dives (I don't think Eric is planning to bring his boat down) but if you would like to join us with the boat, that would be awesome.

When conditions are right, Malibu diving can be great -- lots of reef and kelp beds within easy reach of shore (~20-40') and the lobster hunting is decent (better in the less dived areas). The vis is usually 15-20', but obviously not as nice as the islands. We may drive down to Palos Verdes to hit some of the beach dives there as well.
