Hey Dale. A couple of miles north from the campsite is Point Dume. Off of Pirate's Cove there are 3 pinnacles that are some of the most interesting diving in Malibu. One even reaches the surface at low tide. If I remember correctly, the outer one comes up from about 110 feet. Planned right with the currents, they are swimmable from Pirates Cove. Now they are an amazing dive by themselves, but on the outside of them is a marine canyon. I only went into it once and found only sand, but there is probably more if you have the time to look for it. I would not advise doing a 200 foot dive there on a single 72 as you don't get much time (I know). Also, pelagic life tends to come up the canyon and you can see blue sharks or whales there.
Pretty cool if you can make it.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
