On Sunday August 14, 2005 the Sea Divers went to Farnsworth Bank aboard the Great Escape. The Great Escape left the dock at 3am and we had a very smooth crossing. And arrived at Farnsworth Bank just after 7AM.
We did two dives at Farnsworth, the first at 7:15 AM, and the second at 9:30 AM with a great hot breakfast in between. The visibility at Farnsworth was 60 ft. + and the water was a comfortable 56 °F below and a toasty 64 °F at the surface.
Our next dive was a Whale Rock at 11:30 AM. The visibility here varied from 20 to 35 ft., but the water was 65 °F. I found the most scenic area of the dive was East of the rock where there many gorgonian covered rocks and even some green abalone.
Our last dive of the day was just East of Eagle Rock at 1:20 PM. I dropped below the boat and found a pinnacle in 90 ft. with the top about 58 ft. An approximately 200 lb. Black Sea Bass circled me several times, but out of camera range. Eric Storsteen the Sea Divers encountered a pair of Black Sea Bass on this dive. It was another great Sea Divers trip aboard the Great Escape.
