You can beach dive right at Black Rock Reef at the Sheraton. Black Rock Watersports at the Sheraton will rent you all that you need. It's a good sigle tank, easy dive.

I also went out with Maui dive shop on one of their three tank dives. We did the back wall of Molokini, the interior crater, and a shore site. That was fun, got back early afternoon. The boat leaves from Kihei, a 45-minute drive from where you're staying.

The "Cathedrals" of Lanai are great dives too. Maui Dive shop or Lahaina Divers will go there. These are lava flow "caverns" that don't require special training. I went on the Maui Dive Shop boat out of the main harbor, but next time I'd take the Lahaina Divers boat out of Lahaina. It's much closer to Lanai and should therefore be a much shorter boat ride.

Hope this helps.
