Chuck....a slide question

My "mom and pop" slide processors are sending me some funky slides. On the last batch, the chemicals looked about right, but there were lots of small black dots and some fine hair like black lines on the slides that I can't blow off with an air can.

If I suggest that they clean (as nicely as I can - I don't want to piss them off - it is because of them that I have such great processing turn around times) their slide processor do you think that will fix the problem? Do you know what causes this?

I'm getting to the point of contemplating investing in my own Jobo and I really don't have a great desire to own one.
