Where do you launch from to go to the Farallones? Isn't it more like 30miles from shore? I guess that's what it is to Catalina but nowhere close to the 100miles to Cortes Banks.

I definitely want something trailerable and garagable but can park on the street if need be. I was thinking the Hurricane because I really don't need the cushy comforts of a big liveaboard.

I'm thinking 45 min run to Catalina, 4-5 dives and head back before dark. Same with Cortes Banks but return late at night.

How big of a boat do I really need? Need - as in I might flipped over if I'm in a smaller boat.

Used 21' Hurricane 640Ds go for about $20-25k regularly with a Volvo Diesel. I've seen used 16' RIBS for about 5k without engine.
