North Coast is a nice place but there are a lot of other places to go diving with 200 ft viz. and warmer water. Guys have been paddy hopping this summer off the coast with excellent viz....La Paz and some of the Mexican islands are very attractive for the viz and large fish alone....I'm over coastal California diving...it's good for training but is not reliable enough for me. I'm sick of driving an hour to find I can't see my speartip. The last three years have been the worst summers for diving off the coast. Before them, it seemed much better. Must be rain runoff, pollution, X, Y, or Z. You'll see when you come down. SoCal coast is best when the white sea bass are in or the first week of lobster season.
