The Great White Shark is the top predator for sea lions. It has been illegal to catch great white sharks for years. Pick up a copy of the California Fish & Game regulations sometime and read it. DF&G recognised and addressed the problem a long time ago. Now if the courts and law enforcement could handle the poachers. I do not consider poachers fishermen. I consider them criminals.

As a resident of California and citizen of the marine world. You have a responability to know the fishing regulations of your state. Regardless if you fish or not. That is if you really care about the marine enviroment or may be you just know how to point fingers;-)
